As part of the Clinical Legal Education: Court Visit to Bhaktapur District Court initiative, first-year BA.LL.B students from Himalayan Whitehouse College of Law participated in an insightful academic field visit. The visit aimed to provide students with a practical understanding of court processes, allowing them to experience the workings of Nepal’s judicial system beyond textbooks.
Students observed live proceedings at the Bhaktapur District Court, including both civil and criminal cases. This exposure offered them a rare opportunity to see how legal arguments are presented, how evidence is examined, and how judicial decisions are made. It also helped students link theoretical classroom knowledge with real-life legal practice.
In addition to observing trials, students engaged in open interactions with judges, lawyers, and court staff. These discussions gave them deeper insights into the challenges and responsibilities of working in the legal field. Students also asked questions related to case management, ethical practices, and courtroom procedures.
The Clinical Legal Education: Court Visit to Bhaktapur District Court plays a vital role in helping students build confidence and develop professional awareness. It promotes critical thinking, legal reasoning, and the ability to analyze issues from multiple perspectives.
HWCL believes that practical exposure is essential in shaping future legal professionals. Through initiatives like this, the college strives to prepare students not just academically but also professionally and ethically.
The institution extends its gratitude to the Bhaktapur District Court for their cooperation and support in making this visit meaningful and impactful for the students.
